A Letter from the Publisher

What can we do for you?  How may we help your family?

These simple questions planted the seed -- and
North Shore
Children & Families
was born.

Who are we?  Let me start by telling you who we are not.  We are
not just another ad-packed publication flooding the marketplace.
We are not just another website cluttering the world wide web.  We
are not interested in just rehashing bits and pieces from the
internet -- claiming to be content.  We are not a big publishing
company focused purely on profits.

So – who are we? We are the local, community resource and
information source for families throughout the North Shore. We
share practical, insightful, useful information to help families like
yours thrive and survive in a complex world. We offer “need to
know”  -- not just nice to know -- information.

We are a safe haven -- a forum where parents can ask our editor
-- an educator with expertise in both child and adult development
-- any questions they need answered.   We don't charge for this
valuable information and resource -- it's the core of our being.  We
are all about sharing helpful information and achieving positive
results -- for our readers, the families throughout the North Shore,
and for our marketing partners and sponsors.

North Shore Children and Families is distributed monthly for free, at
many family-frequented locations throughout the North Shore.
Each current issue is also available online. We are local -- we are
small -- but we are powerful, informative and giving.  We work
hard for you and for the local North Shore community because we
are members of the North Shore community.

So, what can we do for you?  How may we help your family?
A Letter from the Editor

North Shore Children & Families is a publication that asks what it
means to be a parent in today’s complex world. North Shore
Children & Families addresses the needs of young children,
adolescents, families and parents alike.  Our goal is to support
parents in their attempt to promote the development of their
children, their families and themselves.

We will bring you articles on a variety of different issues related to
parenting.  These include thoughts about how to raise a moral
child, the development of interpersonal relationships, how to
promote intellectual development in your child, working with
schools to ensure that your child receives the best possible
education, and, of course, discipline and much more.  We will bring
you practical tips to help you to do the toughest and most
important job there is — parenting.

But wait — parents are part of the family too! Adults don’t stop
developing just because they are over the age of 18!
North Shore
Children & Families
will bring you articles and resources that will help
parents promote their own development. Whether it be a focus on
developing as a parent, as a person juggling career and home-life,
as an adult dealing with the difficulties of raising children with
special needs, or caring for aging parents,
North Shore Children &
Families
provides resources to support the
entire family.

We are always looking for ways to improve what we do; we are
always trying to find better ways to serve families on the North
Shore.  So, please write to us and tell us what you think of our
publication and our website.   Please write to us about the type of
information and ideas that you would like to see in
North Shore
Children & Families
.   And do consider submitting your own ideas
and creative work.
